“…Alternatively, other plaque-associated targets have been used as biomarkers for nuclear imaging. 31,32 We believe that the enzyme-sensitive beacons could have advantages as imaging agents because of their inherent built-in amplification and because they report molecular rather than anatomic abnormalities.…”

“…75 A new glycoprotein IIb/IIIa platelet inhibitor, DMP-44, labeled with 99m Tc accurately identifies the platelet-rich thrombus in a canine model. 76 We recently illustrated that in vivo fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography may detect and quantify macrophage content in rabbits with aortic plaques. 77 However, no single radiotracer is ideally suited to image atherosclerosis and to provide the prognostic and clinical indicators necessary for medical and surgical interventions.…”

“…Using the SnCl 2 -containing formulation, RP444 can be readily prepared in high yield (85-92%), and excellent images in the canine deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and arteriovenous shunt models are produced. Injection of the whole or part of the formulation did not cause any unwanted side effects [59][60][61][62].…”
