Identification of metastasis and prognosis-associated genes for serous ovarian cancer

Abstract: Serous ovarian cancer is one of the most fatal gynecological tumors with an extremely low 5-year survival rate. Most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage with wide metastasis. The dysregulation of genes serves an important role in the metastasis progression of ovarian cancer. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between primary tumors and metastases of serous ovarian cancer were screened out in the gene expression profile of GSE73168 from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Cytoscape plugin cytoHubba and we… Show more

“…Subsequently, we utilized WGCNA to filter highly reliable and biologically significant modules and hub genes that are responsible for tamoxifen resistance from the list of DEGs [22,23]. The WGCNA clustered genes into 13 modules, of which the tan and blue modules were positively and negatively related to clinical traits, respectively.…”

“…Thus, the correlation between GALNT14 methylation and the clinicopathological characteristics of KIRC explored in this study is the rst to date, which will provide a reference for subsequent related studies. Altogether, methylation markers play an important role in the diagnosis and prediction of survival of solid tumors [33][34][35], which is why we explored the relationship between GALNT14 methylation and KIRC in this study. To our surprise, Chen et al [3] proposed that the hypomethylation of oncogenes plays an indispensable role in the carcinogenesis process.…”

“…Ovarian cancer is the seventh most common type of malignant neoplasm in women and the eighth cause of mortality (102)(103)(104). Most patients with ovarian cancer are typically diagnosed at an advanced stage of the disease (105).…”
