Identification of microsatellite markers linked with yield components under drought stress at terminal growth stages in durum wheat

Abstract: Grain yield and yield components are the main important traits involved in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L.) improvement programs. The purpose of this research was to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with yield components such as 1000 grain weight (TGW), grain weight per spike (GWS), number of grains per spike (GNS), spike number per m 2 (SN), spike weight (SW), spike harvest index (SHI) and harvest index (HI) using microsatellite markers. Populations of F 3 and F 4 lines derived from 151 F 2… Show more

“…Higher heritability estimates for GY under IP and RP than DP supported previous evidence that significant genotype by environment interactions exist under drought conditions [10,25,26]. Low heritability for BPP and more predictable genotype by environment interaction and little effect of the environment on SH, HI and PPS were also suggested in earlier studies [10,27,28]. …”

“…Xgwm299 was found in a previously reported grain weight QTL QTgw.ipk-3B.2 in a Canadian environment [79], the meta-QTL MQTL29 for yield and related traits [80], and a grain weight QTL in durum wheat [81]. Similarly, Xwmc17 was involved in MQTL49 for yield and related traits [80], and associated with grain weight [8].…”
