Identification of novel nonedible oil seeds via scanning electron microscopy for biodiesel production

Abstract: Exploration of substitute energy feed‐stocks is the much‐debated topic in the scientific society due to increasing power crises and related ecological concerns. As a source of sustainable energy, biodiesel turns out to be the best alternative to petro fuels. In this context, nonedible oil‐producing seeds might be a potential source for biodiesel production owing to their environment‐friendly nature and cost‐effectiveness. The current study, consequently, deals with the investigation and identification of micro… Show more

“…Energy plays a dominant and vital role in maintaining ecological balance and socioeconomic development of communities of any homeland or a country (Munir et al, 2019; Ramchandra & Boucar, 2011). Rapid increase in urbanization made the researchers attentive to make other possible options for fuels rather than depleting fossil fuels though out the world (Atabani et al, 2013; Dawood et al, 2020; Ahmad et al, 2019).…”

“…Besides, SEM is generally used for acknowledgment of micromorphological features of seed coat which guides us in recognition of plant species and genera Waheed et al, 2021). Moreover, micromorphological evaluation of seed testa helps in settling numerous taxonomical and phylogenetic issues and used for recognition of phenetic connections of a few classes (Dawood et al, 2020; Rashid et al, 2021). In specific cases, unrefined morphological data were not adequate, and along these lines checking micromorphological characters can offer an open door for a broad investigation of seed surface having classification issues (Luqman, Ahmad, & Bakhsh, 2019).…”

“…Measurements were repeatedly taken for three to five times and mean values were recorded. Length and width of sample seeds were measured using a ruler (Aziz et al, 2021; Dawood et al, 2020; Munir et al, 2021). Macromorphological features were further validated from flora of Pakistan.…”
