Identification of polyphenolic contents, in vitro evaluation of antioxidant and antidiabetic potentials of a polyherbal formulation-Mehani

Abstract: Diabetes has become a global disease that needs an alternative drug treatment with lesser side effects. The present study was aimed to evaluate the antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of soxhlet and microwave assisted extraction of a polyherbal formulation-Mehani using aqueous, hydroalcoholic and hexane solvents. Preliminary investigation shows that the heavy metal contents were within the permissible limits in mehani. Comparative antioxidant studies showed that hydroalocoholic soxhlet (HAS) and microwave … Show more

“…Now-a-days, researchers are focused on the development of antiviral bioactive compounds from medicinal plants with high curative effect and no toxicity [ 8 , 9 ]. Medicinal plant-based bioactives have been traditionally used to treat many infectious and respiratory diseases [ 10 , 11 ]. In earlier reports, numerous computational screening studies have mapped out the potential bioactives from medicinal plants against the targets of SARS-CoV-2 [ [12] , [13] , [14] ].…”

“…The colour of DPPH turns from purple to yellow and gets converted into 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazine with a decrease in absorbance at 517 nm after reduction by ZnO NS's indicates the scavenging potentials of the NPs. The slow color change of DPPH solution from purple to pale yellow in the presence of ZnO NSs is due to shifting of electron density present at oxygen atom to the odd electron present at nitrogen atom in DPPH [73]. Antioxidant activity of ower like ZnO NSs was found (Figure.9) to increase with the increase in concentration in a dosedependent manner from 12.5 µg/mlto 1000 µg/ml.…”

“…Supernatant was collected and the residue was again extracted with aqueous methanolic extract for 24 hr. The collected supernatants were fractionated using ethyl acetate, concentrated in rotary vacuum evaporator and stored at −20°C for further studies (Venkateswaran et al., 2019; Yang et al, 2009).…”
