“…AtSWEET11 and 12 are members of clade III of the SWEET genes, which are involved in disease development (Li et al 2018 ). It has been reported that OsSWEET12 (Li et al 2013 ) and AtSWEET11 (Wipf et al 2021 ) interact with AtRBOHD, a membrane NADP oxidase producing reactive oxygen species involved in defence-related processes. In line with the present interpretation, SWEETs were proposed to modulate the sucrose availability for pathogens (Fatima and Senthil-Kumar 2021 ).…”

“…It appears that the release-retrieval model provides a useful basis for a provisional explanation of the present results. As sugar transporters are regulated not only at transcriptional, but also at post-transcriptional and at post-translational levels (Liesche et al 2011 ; Wipf et al 2021 ; Garg and Kühn 2022 ), many additional molecular factors might participate in their modulation in Arabidopsis following phytoplasma infection, including the possibility of protein redistribution to regulate membrane permeability. Moreover, plasmodesmal connectivity is worthy to be considered, as it determines if and how far the phytoplasma effectors can disseminate into the tissues surrounding the sieve tubes and control the recruitment of nutrients.…”

“…Moreover, Sugar serves as the major ingredient for making sweets which are often used for flavoring, caramelizing, and forming a brownish color [15]. Wipf et al [16] explained that in the production of dried sweets, glucose and sucrose are added and soaked for about 12-24 hours, this process improves the taste, aroma, and texture. At present, the relationship between the production sweet of long beans, granulated sugar, and Ca(OH) 2 has not been provided.…”

“…A part of the sugars transported to fruit is utilized in physiological processes, whereas the other part is stored in vacuoles. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of these processes is important for uncovering important players in physiologically relevant processes (Wipf et al 2021).…”
