Identification of Specific DNA Fragments in the Superior Mutant Plant of Rodent Tuber Accession Pekalongan (<i>Typhonium flagelliforme</i>) Based on Sequencing Analysis

Abstract: Cancer is a large group of diseases that occur in almost any organ or tissue of the body when abnormal cells get out of normal and invade adjacent cells. In women especially, breast cancer is among the most common types of cancer. These cancer cells will form a tumor that can be seen on an x-ray. Some traditional breast cancer treatments have been carried out, including using local herbal plants such as rodent tubers (Typhonium flagelliforme). Rodent tuber contains stigmasterol which has a high anticancer effe… Show more

“…Lectins are non-enzyme proteins that include a minimum of one non-catalyzing site and can bind to particular targets reversibly. Several potential medicinal plants in Indonesia contain lectins, such as Pisum fulvum and P. sativum (Family: Fabaceae), T. flagelliforme (Family: Araceae), and Viscum album (Family: Santalaceae) (Yousefvand et al 2022;Yassin et al 2019;Sianipar et al 2022a). Lectins can act as anticancer agents with a general mechanism through the apoptosis process in cancer cells, so that cancer cell growth is inhibited.…”

“…Lectin genes were successfully detected in the potential of Indonesian medicinal plants such as Morus spp. (Family: Moraceae) (Wulandari et al 2018), T. flagelliforme (Family: Araceae) (Sianipar et al 2022a), and G. max (Family: Fabaceae) (Wang et al 2021).…”
