Identification of the Urogenital Distress Inventory-6 and the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-7 cutoff scores in urinary incontinent women

Abstract: Purpose Urogenital Distress Inventory-6 (UDI-6), Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-7 (IIQ-7) and The International Consultation on Incontinence (ICIQ-SF) Short Form are used to diagnose individuals with urinary incontinence (UI) and to assess the impact of the dysfunction on patient quality of life. While ICIQ-SF has fixed cutoff values—UDI-6 and IIQ-7 do not. We aimed to find the cutoff scores for UDI-6 and IIQ-7 in women with UI. Methods The stud… Show more

“…This result has not been found in other literature. When interpreting the median scores for urinary incontinence [MF 33 (IQR 8–33) vs. VH (17 (IQR 0–33) on a 0–100 scale, p = 0.03], the median scores for patients with VH fall below the cutoff score of 33.33, which was determined to distinguish between symptomatic and asymptomatic women [ 21 , 27 ]. We found no significant differences in the DDI and IIQ domain scores between both groups.…”

“…Data of a subjective recurrence, reinterventions and complaints were obtained by validated health-related and disease-specific questionnaires (Appendix A ). This set of questionnaires, compiled by the Dutch Society for Urogynecology, includes the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ), Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI) and Defecation Distress Inventory (DDI), which have been validated for the Dutch language [ 14 , 18 21 ]. These questionnaires consist of a 4-point Likert scale where patients can score various symptoms ranging from no complaints to serious complaints and score for different subdomains [ 18 , 19 ].…”

“…Based on a study by Skorupska et al, 17 response was marked as successful if the questionnaire total scores during follow-up visits were less than those before treatment, the UDI-6 total score was <33.33 post-treatment, the IIQ-7 total score was <9.52 post-treatment, and the follow-up notes did not record any abnormal physical examination findings or surgical complications. Response to treatment for POP was noted on physical examination and POP quantification (POP-Q) staging, 18 with success marked if there was improvement to prolapse stage 0 or 1 after treatment, and there were no complaints of symptoms including vaginal bulge from the participant.…”
