Identifying dependability requirements for space software systems

Abstract: Computer systems are increasingly used in space, whether in launch vehicles, satellites, ground support and payload systems. Software applications used in these systems have become more complex, mainly due to the high number of features to be met, thus contributing to a greater probability of hazards related to software faults. Therefore, it is fundamental that the specification activity of requirements have a decisive role in the effort of obtaining systems with high quality and safety standards. In critical … Show more

“…During the benefits realisation cycle, stakeholders often find need where their spaces have to be serviced or maintained. This review identifies increasing interest in lifecycle performance of processes such for serviceability, accessibility [84,85] and maintainability [86]. In particular, there are opportunities in integrated processes and standardisation [85], Sustainable and continuing performance in product-service systems [84], data security in the IT [48] all issues making lifecycle performance an important requirement category during design decision making.…”

“…Para se identificarem as medidas de mitigação, o sistema pode utilizar as bases de dados de atributos (ADB) e a base de conhecimentos (KB). A ADB foi criada utilizando-se trabalhos da literatura [13,14,15,16], que conduziram levantamentos de perigos, suas causas e suas possíveis mitigações. A KB foi construída por meio de medidas de mitigação utilizadas em projetos já analisados, permitindo o reuso de mitigações já adotadas.…”

“…operate at an extremely high frequency and have strict response requirements in which a single fault can generate catastrophic events (McCormick et al 2011). Romani et al (2010) emphasize the importance of requirements for space soft ware systems according to the NASA criticality scale. A soft ware for such applications is generally developed following rigorous process standards.…”
