Signcryption is a cryptographic primitive that fulfills both the functions of digital signature and public key encryption simultaneously, at a cost significantly lower than that required by the traditional signature-thenencryption approach. Signcryption has found many applications, such as electronic transaction protocol, mobile agent protocol, key management, and routing protocol. In this article, the state-of-the-art of identitybased signcryption (IBSC) is surveyed. We examine the security model of IBSC. We survey the existing IBSC schemes and compare their security properties and efficiency. IBSC with special properties and identitybased hybrid signcryption are investigated. Some possible future work is also pointed out. . His recent research interests include cryptography and network security. He has published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences.

An aggregate signature scheme is a digital signature scheme that allows aggregation of n distinct signatures by n distinct users on n distinct messages. In this paper, we present an aggregate signcryption scheme (ASC) that is useful for reducing the size of certification chains (by aggregating all signatures in the chain) and for reducing message size in secure routing protocols. The new ASC scheme combines identity‐based encryption and the aggregation of signatures in a practical way that can simultaneously satisfy the security requirements for confidentiality and authentication. We formally prove the security of the new scheme in a random oracle model with respect to security properties IND‐CCA2, AUTH‐CMA2, and EUF‐CMA.

Abstract. Aggregate signatures are useful in special areas where the signatures on many different messages generated by many different users need to be compressed. Very recently, Xiong et al. proposed a certificateless aggregate signature scheme provably secure in the random oracle model under the Computational Diffie-Hellman assumption. Unfortunately, by giving two kinds of concrete attacks, we indicate that the certificateless aggregate signature scheme of Xiong et al. does not meet the basic requirement of unforgeability.
