Identity, Conflict and Discourse: Understanding Military Contestation in Brazil

Abstract: The Brazilian military has recently executed an unexpected return to politics by engaging more actively in domestic policymaking and implementation both before and during the Bolsonaro government, thus jeopardising democratic consolidation.
