“…In our own casecontrol study, sensitization to ns-LTP was demonstrable in 10 of 12 (83%) patients with cannabis-related food allergies (8). In comparison, in our regions sIgE reactivity towards ns-LTP in patients with pollen and/or plant-derived food allergies is observed in about 25% of the cases (28). Anyhow, it appears that next to peach (24) and mugwort (29) C. Sativa might be another source that dominates sensitization to ns-LTP and triggers ns-LTP-related allergies that extend far beyond vegetables and fruits.…”

“…Thus, the BAT might be useful if clinical history, SPT and/or sIgE measurement are inconsistent or in addition an oral food challenge is not possible [42]. Furthermore, the use of recombinant allergens in the BAT might have added value in discriminating between clinically relevant and mere sensitization [44, 45] and should be considered in future studies.…”

“…In food allergy, it has been demonstrated that both the basophil activation test (BAT) and quantification of sIgG4 antibodies can be helpful in differentiating clinically relevant from irrelevant sIgE results . Preliminary results of our earlier study showed that the BAT with Pru p 3 has good potential in predicting clinical reactivity to peach in an Antwerp population . The diagnostic usefulness of sIgG4 to Pru p 3/Mal d 3 has not been explored yet.…”
