iGPCR-Drug: A Web Server for Predicting Interaction between GPCRs and Drugs in Cellular Networking

Abstract: Involved in many diseases such as cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative, inflammatory and respiratory disorders, G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are among the most frequent targets of therapeutic drugs. It is time-consuming and expensive to determine whether a drug and a GPCR are to interact with each other in a cellular network purely by means of experimental techniques. Although some computational methods were developed in this regard based on the knowledge of the 3D (dimensional) structure of protein, unf… Show more

“…For example, He et al represented drugs and targets using common chemical functional groups and pseudo amino acid composition, respectively [24], while Yu et al used molecular descriptors that were calculated using the DRAGON package [25] and the PROFEAT web server [26] for drugs and targets, respectively [27]. Other descriptors have also been used such as position-specific scoring matrices [28], 2D molecular fingerprints [29], MACCS fingerprints [30], and domain and PubChem fingerprints [31]. …”

“…As anticipated in Chou and Shen (2009) and demonstrated in a series of follow-up publications (Fan et al, 2014;GUo et al, 2014;Qiu et al, 2014;Chen et al, 2013;Xiao et al, 2013aXiao et al, , 2013bXu et al, 2013;Min et al, 2013), user-friendly and publicly accessible web-servers represent the future direction for developing practically more useful models, simulated methods, or predictors, we shall make efforts in our future work to provide a webserver for the method presented in this paper.…”
