IL-1R2 expression in human gastric cancer and its clinical significance

Abstract: Background: Interleukin-1 receptor type II (IL-1R2), also known as CD121b, is a member of the IL-1 receptor family. IL-1R2 acts as negative regulator of the IL-1 system, modulating IL-1 availability for the signaling receptor. IL-1R2 is abnormally expressed in many human inflammatory diseases and cancers, and has important clinical significance. The present study was designed to investigate IL-1R2 expression in human gastric cancer (GC) tissues and the associated clinical implications. Methods: Immunohistochem… Show more

“…We also found, at OSskcm webserver, that lower expression of IL1R2 indicated lower DSS and lower OS when compared with IL1R2 higher expression in patients with cutaneous melanoma, corroborating with our results. The association of IL1R2 expression and patient's survival was recently described in breast and gastric cancer [28,29]. Unlike our results in cutaneous melanoma, patients with breast or gastric cancer with higher IL1R2 expression presented worst prognosis when compared with lower expression patients [28,29].…”

“…Furthermore, IL1R2 is found to be highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues. 11 Interleukin-1 receptor type II, activated by IL-1β, is upregulated in breast cancer tissues and especially in breast tumor-initiating cells. 12 …”

“…PTAFR is high expressed in cervical cancer samples when compared with normal cervical tissue, which protect tumor cells from radiation-induced cell death ( da Silva-Junior et al, 2018 ). Increased levels of IL1R2 are involved in the initiation and progression of human gastric cancer, and IL1R2 might be an immunotherapeutic target ( Yuan et al, 2021 ). It could be speculated that both PTAFR and IL1R2 would play important roles in liver cancer.…”
