“…Overall, the wound-healing capabilities of SMPE compared with standard mangiferin were proven through mechanisms involving fibroblast proliferation and migration. Our results confirmed the previous pharmacological activity evaluations of mangiferin and mango peel extract for wound healing and the treatment of skin diseases [10,12,26,27]. Moreover, SMPE exhibited nontoxic effects across the tested concentrations (0.25-10 µg/mL) and contributed to fibroblast proliferation at the optimal concentration of 1 µg/mL.…”

“…The migration rate of the control group was notably lower than that of cells treated with SMPE and standard mangiferin (Figure 6). The results align with other studies suggesting that mangiferin can enhance wound-healing activity [26,27]. Moreover, the synthesis of type I collagen was assessed in HDFs after 48 h of exposure to mangiferin or SMPE at concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 10 µg/mL (Table 5).…”

“…The COX–VEGF axis plays an important role in wound healing, since pharmacologically induced downregulation of COX-2 correlates with significantly increased VEGF levels. A study of full-thickness skin incisions in mice demonstrated increased angiogenesis and collagen deposition on histology, which correlated with a significant increase in wound contraction and reduced wound area macroscopically [ 47 ]. These findings are in contrast to those of another paper included in our analysis, indicating that COX-2 KO mice demonstrate reduced VEGF-induced angiogenesis at the anastomosis [ 14 ].…”

“…As these factors are implicated in the development of gastric ulcers, MPE may facilitate wound healing in peptic ulcers by reducing them. According to the findings of several studies, mangiferin has been shown to facilitate wound closure in excision or incision wounds through the downregulation of COX-2, as well as by stimulating angiogenesis by increasing the secretion of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) [54][55][56]. This suggests that MPE may have a multifaceted mechanism of action, making it a potentially useful treatment option for promoting the healing of peptic ulcers.…”
