“…The global illness perception of Chinese patients with ACS in this study was moderate to moderately negative, which is comparable with that of Chinese patients with heart failure (Chen et al, 2020). Nonetheless, participants in the current study demonstrated a more negative view of their illness compared with Israeli patients with ACS (Ganz et al, 2022). This inconsistency may be attributable to the differences in sample characteristics such as the gender ratio, educational level, disease history, resources of disease information and social support which have been shown to alter illness perception (Bekke-Hansen et al, 2014;Ribeiro et al, 2014).…”

“…This issue includes a selection of papers on cardiac medical patients, 5–8 on post‐operative cardiac surgical patients 9–15 and on nurses' experiences and skills in delivering highly specialized extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment 16,17 . We also have an interesting paediatric paper examining the impact on red blood cells when delivered through infusion pumps 18 and a paper studying the impact of mattress type on the effectiveness of chest compressions, 19 concluding with a provocative critical commentary on oxygen saturation targets in COVID‐19 patients 20 .…”
