“…In our experience, most cats and dogs can be effectively imaged with an injected dose of 2–5 mCi of 18 FDG and thus the purchase of a single dose of 18 FDG could be split among two patients, taking into account the timing of the scans and the 110 min half‐life of the tracer. Although a review of the current literature is beyond the scope of this paper, the re‐ader should refer to the recently published literature to familiarize him/her selves with the normal pattern of uptake of 18 FDG in various species, and on the use of 18 FDG in clinical patients . Dedicated software, variable depending on the scanner used, is required for image reconstruction and interpretation, including the creation of fused images and quantitative analysis by determination of standardized uptake values (SUV).…”
