Imaging findings of primary well-differentiated liposarcoma of the liver: a case report

Abstract: Primary liposarcoma of the liver is extremely rare. We report here on a case of primary well-differentiated liposarcoma in the left hepatic lobe of a 63-year-old woman. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a well-defined, echogenic, round mass. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) images showed an almost fatty, lobulated mass with a few, random distributed vascular structures and a small area of nodular enhancement. The resected tumor appeared as a well-defined, round, tan-yellow mass. Hi… Show more

“…A few MRI findings of hepatic UES have been described [4,25,52,53]. Typical MRI findings of hepatic UES are a discordant cystic appearance due to the high water content of the myxoid stroma, large portions of which are hypointense on T1-weighted images, and high signal intensity on T2-weighted images.…”

“…[ 4 ] Recently, positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) was confirmed to be capable of differentiating hibernoma from liposarcoma in the thigh. [ 5 ] However, literature regarding PET/CT evaluation of hepatic liposarcoma is still scarce. Furthermore, there is no report about the PET/CT findings of hepatic myxoid liposarcoma.…”
