Abstract:We report the operando imaging of the methyl radical mole fraction above a working catalyst. Using photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PF-LIF), we imaged methyl radicals, an important intermediate species in hydrocarbon chemistry, in the near-surface gas phase over Ag/SiO 2 catalysts during the partial oxidation of methanol. Methyl is detected within 2 mm of the surface at single-digit parts per million concentrations. The temperature dependence of the methyl mole fraction in the gas phase follows t… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
