Imaging in inherited retinal disorders

Abstract: Inherited retinal diseases, which results from mutations in over 260 identified genes, affect more than 2 million people globally. The diseases mostly cause severe vision loss in young working population and have severe impact on social economic status of the population. Advances in retinal imaging techniques along with developments in gene identification and cell biology techniques have yielded to a better understanding of the genetic and biochemical mechanisms causing these diseases. Retinal imaging along wi… Show more

“…This issue is solved by applying a strategy of batch balancing. Here, the batch is separated in to five varied groups like [1,2], [2,3], [3,4], [4,5] and [5,6]. A similar number of occurrences are randomly chosen during the construction of a mini-batch, i.e., 25 from all the groups and generate the batch fully balanced.…”

Some of the retinal disorders are Cataract, DR (Diabetic Retinopathy), Glaucoma, AMD (Aged Macular Degeneration), RP (Retinitis Pigmentosa), [4][5] etc. Cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss in aged and younger individuals [6][7].…”

“…Dear Editor, I read with great interest a recent article published in the European Journal of Ophthalmology by Muftuoglu et al 1 that focused on novel multimodal imaging characteristics of patients with inherited retinal disorders. In the beginning, I would like to congratulate the authors on their article, however, I have several comments regarding their article on the topic of gyrate atrophy (GA).…”
