“…It can be seen that the particles are globular in appearance and that the d 50 value for the grain size is 5.4 mm with a relatively narrow distribution. The quantity of particles in the size range 18-30 mm is only 10% and although the average particle size is smaller than the optimal size proposed by Li et al (2002) the PSL efficiency of the synthesized BaFBr:Eu 2þ is very close to that of the commercial plate. The small grain size of the prepared powder suggests that the spatial resolution could be higher than that of current commercial imaging plates without a loss in sensitivity.…”

“…If the grains are too large, the spatial resolution of the obtained images is reduced. If the grains are too small, the PSL efficiency is reduced, resulting in a relatively insensitive imaging plate (Li et al, 2002). It has been suggested that the optimal grain size for BaFBr:Eu 2þ is 7 mm as a compromise between PSL efficiency and spatial resolution.…”

“…While mean grain sizes have been provided in [53], and included in Table I, we are not aware of any report providing the grain size distribution for these commercially available phosphors. Li et al, [77] while studying the effect of mean grain size on imaging performance reported on the grain size distribution as a function of milling time. Their plot indicates a bi-modal distribution with decreasing mean grain size as the milling time was increased.…”

“…The composition Pb 3 Cl) is an efficient catalyst in allylation of aromatics [2]. Most of these materials have been widely investigated and applied in medical imaging and high-density optical data storage during the last two decades [3,6,9,10]. However, to our knowledge, little effort has been devoted to the study of the PbF 2(1Àx) Br 2x [2,6] system and their nanoscaled materials.…”
