Immediate and Long Term Effect of Kinesiotaping on Cervical Core in Forward Head Posture: One Week Follow Up Study

Abstract: Background: For maintaining normal posture of cervical spine, deep cervical flexor muscle endurance is essentially required. Therefore, if muscle recruitment is impaired the balance between the stabilizers on the front and the back of the neck will be disrupted. This will cause loss of proper alignment of spinal segments and forward headed posture. It has been studied that Modified sphygmomanometer just like pressure biofeedback can be used as a assessment tool for measuring cervical core endurance. Kinesio -T… Show more

“…Phone self‐reporting and direct supervision during clinic sessions are commonly used strategies for promoting exercise adherence (Falla et al., 2007; Hall et al., 2018). For the taping, tape replacement timing was based on manufacturer guidelines and studies of tape longevity (Sawant et al., 2017; Yoshida & Kahanov, 2007). Self‐monitoring tape condition and researcher notification for replacement are validated adherence methods (Parreira et al., 2014).…”

“…Forward head posture leads to extension of atlanto occipital joint and upper cervical vertebrae as well as exaggerated anterior curve in the lower cervical vertebra and exaggerated posterior curve in upper thoracic vertebra to maintain balance 5 . This posture is also called "Scholar's neck", "Wearsie neck", "Reading neck" or "Turtle neck" 6,5 . FHP was identified by measuring craniovertebral angle.…”
