Immmunophenotype of Spontaneous Hematolymphoid Tumors Occurring in Young and Aging Female CD-1 Mice

Abstract: A few reports indicated the incidence of hematolymphoid neoplasms in old CD-1 mice, but the cellular lineage of CD-1 mouse neoplasms has not be published. In this study, immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to characterize the cellular lineage of spontaneous hematolymphoid neoplasms arising in young female CD-1 mice used as health monitoring sentinels and aging female CD-1 mice used as controls in 80 wk carcinogenesis studies. Lymphoblastic lymphomas of T-cell and B-cell lineage were common in mice 12 mo or les… Show more

“…The listings of lymphomas in Table 1 are the original diagnoses provided by the pathologist or scientist contributing them and may not agree with current established criteria. With today’s classification (Morse et al, 2002; Rehg et al, [Epub ahead of print]), they may be classified differently. The new Lymphoma Resource page allows the user the ability to compare the data for a specific mouse lymphoma model to the histopathology and immunohistochemical labeling patterns listed to help determine the exact lymphoma sub-type.…”

“…The p30 antibody has been previously published as being cross-reactive with endogenous retroviruses, specifically endogenous murine leukemia viruses. 23,46,53 CD1 mouse tissues were used as a positive control for interpreting p30 labeling. 53 C57BL/6 (B6) mouse tissues were used as negative controls for the p30 antibody since B6 mice have been reported to have undetectable ecotropic MuLV.…”
