Abstract: Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome is a collection of inflammatory disorders associated with paradoxical worsening of preexisting infectious processes following the initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
