Immunity in Hodgkin's disease: status after 5 years' remission

Abstract: Immunological indices have been reassessed in 27 patients in remission from Hodgkin's disease for 5 years after treatment and the findings correlated with initial treatment and splenectomy status. Neutrophil counts were lower and lymphocyte and monocyte counts higher at 5 years' remission than at presentation; the increases in lymphocyte count were mainly a feature of the splenectomized patients. Neutrophil function (nitro-blue tetrazolium) was unchanged in remission but cellular immunity (leucocyte migration … Show more

“…In Fisher's study, there were no differences in immune function between patients treated with chemotherapy or chemotherapy and radiation. Others have similarly shown decreased numbers of T-lymphocytes and depressed lymphocyte stimulation tests in patients up to 10 years after therapy [82]. In addition, T cell helper/suppressor ratios are reduced in patients clinically free of disease 5 or more years after therapy [83].…”

“…Проведенные комплексные клинико-экологические исследования показали, что загрязнение воздушной сре-ды является значимым фактором риска развития ЛОР-патологии [23], частых респираторных заболеваний у де-тей [24,25], аллергических болезней, психоневрологиче-ских расстройств и болезней обмена [26][27][28][29].…”
