Abstract: Introduction. Hepatitis A (HA) is caused by infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV). The differential etiological diagnosis of acute hepatitis is based on a positive result of the serological test detecting IgM class anti-HAV. For epidemiological studies on past infection and seroprevalence of HAV in populations, the tests measuring IgG class anti-HAV or total anti-HAV are used. Since the 1990s, specific prophylaxis is possible by vaccination against HA. In Poland, vaccination is recommended and in majority… Show more

“…Among three people over 70 years of age anti-HAV antibodies were present in each of them. A similar increase in seroprotection with increasing age was observed in the study by Juszczyk et al (14). In a study carried out in the Wielkopolska Region (Greater Poland) in 2009-2015 by M.Bura, et al, the percentage of patients with anti-HAV antibodies was higher in older age groups (15) which confirmed a greater susceptibility to infection in patients up to 40 years of age.…”

“…In other research, authors emphasized low immunity levels and highlighted the importance of HAV vaccinations among MSM (Latash et al, 2017). Other researchers proved increasing susceptibility to HAV infection among younger corporate professional employees in large cities in Poland (Juszczyk et al, 2018). During the outbreak in Poland, there was a temporary nonavailability of vaccinations.…”
