Immunogenetic studies of wild European, Asian and American Suiformes in connections with the origin of some antigens in Sus scrofa domestica

Abstract

Comparative studies of immunogenetic features in domestic pigs and their ancestors, different subspecies of the wild boar, are of interest from an evolutionary viewpoint and promote our understanding of phylogenetic relationships. The antigen frequencies of factors in 10 genetical blood group systems, the gene frequency of their alleles and genotype frequencies were studied in 171 wild boars of different subspecies: 79 Far Eastern boars (Sus scrofu ussuricus Heude) from Primorye Territory and Amur region, 68 Middle Asian boars (Sus scrofu nigripes Blanford) from the Sari-Chelekski reservation of Kirghizia and 29 Transcaucasian boars (Sus scrofu uttifu Thomas) from Azerbaijan. In this study Buschmann's (1965) and Wiatroszak's (1970) data concerning blood groups of the West European wild boar along with the date we have obtained in blood group investigation of a large number of pig breeds originated in USSR and other countries (Tikhonov, 1967(Tikhonov, , 1972, were used for comparison.
