Immunological and Molecular Diagnosis of Cytomegalovirus Infection between Aborted & Pregnant Women in Babylon City

Abstract: Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the globally highly prevalent herpesvirus worldwide. CMV infects populations of all ages according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). CMV infections remain the most common viral complication potentially multiple in humans and are a major cause of congenital normality in women, which is why they are critical for diagnosis in several times when it happens during pregnancy. Pregnant women with CMV infection can be in charge of… Show more

“…The HCMV IgG avidity test is dependent on the sensitivity of the HCMV IgM testing since the rise in IgM titer may happen before the rise in IgG titer following the initial infection. confirming that all HCMV IgM-positive samples have been located and their IgG avidity assessed [21].…”

“…In Erbil city, Ali and Sharef, [20] found that the serupositivity of HCMV was 30.5%. In Babylon AL-Hajjar and Al-Mousawi, [21] southern Iraq, has a high seroprevalence of HCMV IgG antibodies (90%) [22]. In Najaf, Hamoud et al [23] discovered a relatively high HCMV seroprevalence (95.09%), with no discernible variations between women who experienced multiple miscarriages and those who experienced a normal pregnancy.…”

“…Therefore, taking this into consideration, it is important to detect the correlation between spontaneous abortion and smoking. 33 CMV is a global highly prevalent herpes virus. In a study done in Kirkuk city, it was found that the prevalence rate of CMV IgG seropositivity was 37%, while CMV IgM seropositivity was lower than 1% in the middle-age group (26-36 years old) women.…”

“…Of the 395 articles, 43 studies were screened for full-text evaluation, and nine studies met the inclusion criteria (Figure 1). Three studies appeared to have met the inclusion criteria but were excluded: the seropositive status of the pregnant women with HCMV shedding was unclear in two studies, 16,17 and the source of shedding was of a foetal bodily fluid for one study. 18 A description of the nine studies included in the systematic review derived from the data extraction is shown in Table 1.…”
