Background: The emergence of COVID-19 has led to many clinical manifestations, including post-infection hair loss. The objective of this study is to investigate the association between thyroid function, iron levels, and the probability of hair loss after COVID-19 infection. Materials and Methods: 100 female patients who recovered from COVID-19 participated in a crosssectional case-control research. Utilizing cutting-edge immunoassay technology, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and ferritin levels were evaluated biochemically. Through the use of a standardized questionnaire, information on the patient's demographics, hair loss duration, and chronic illnesses was gathered. Results: TSH levels were significantly different between patients with hair loss and controls (p<0.001), suggesting a possible link between high TSH and post-COVID-19 hair loss. On the other hand, ferritin levels between the two groups did not differ significantly (p=0.492). TSH was identified as a viable predictor for hair loss patients by ROC-curve analysis (AUC = 0.737, sensitivity = 84%, specificity = 46%), although ferritin had only a little ability to predict hair loss (AUC = 0.519). Conclusion:This study indicates that thyroid function may play a role in hair loss after COVID-19 infection by showing a possible correlation between higher TSH levels and hair loss. However, ferritin levels did not exhibit a significant correlation, highlighting the need for additional study to fully comprehend the underlying mechanisms.

: Background: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), one of the most common infectious diseases, is the third leading cause of death worldwide. To stop the spread of serious sickness and keep the initial infection under control, the innate immune response is crucial. Cathelicidin, a potent antimicrobial peptide that may kill germs directly and alter the immune system's response to infection, is an essential component of this response. The main goal of the study is to investigate the association between CaLL37 and the severity of CAP in young patients. Methodology: 120 CAP cases and 165 controls made comprised the 285 participants in this case-control study, whose ages varied from 1 to 18 months. Calculated and compared cathelicidin levels for CAP and control participants as well as the pneumonia-causing agent. People who were thought to have COVID-19 CAP were excluded. Results: The participants' mean age was 9.7 (range of 1 to 18) months. In 46.2%, 35%, and 18.8% of cases of CAP; bacterial, viral, and mixed causative agents, respectively, were detected. Among the individuals, only 6.8% received mixed feeding, compared to 42.1% who used artificial feeding and 51.1% who exclusively breastfed. The mean total serum contained 8.6 ±6.7 ng\ml of CaLL37. CaLL37 serum levels were comparable between the two study groups (p>0.05). The levels of CaLL37 were comparable (p>0.05) among patients with CAP when compared according to the causative agents, while plasma CaLL37 levels were higher among babies on artificial feeding (p-0.001). The ROC assays revealed that CaLL37 plasma levels were unable to differentiate between bacterial and viral pneumonia or between persons who had pneumonia and healthy subjects. However, the CaLL37 can discriminate between infants who are breastfed and those who are fed by a bottle considerably (p-0.001, AUC=0.748, sensitivity=0.673, specificity=0.637, and 95%CI of o.675 - 0.820). Conclusion: According to the study, CaLL37 is capable of determining the difference between infants who are breastfed and those who are fed artificially. However, it is difficult for cathelicidin to distinguish between various CAP causes as well as between CAP patients and healthy controls.

Concerns about the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic's possible impact on sexual and reproductive health have grown significantly. In this narrative review, the latest research on the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection on several facets of sexual and reproductive health is reviewed.The review starts initially by going through the possible consequences of SARS-CoV-2 on female menstrual cycles. The virus may interfere with the menstrual cycle, which could affect hormone synthesis and endometrial reactions, according to newly available evidence. Menstrual blood loss may be impacted by COVID-19's potential to influence endothelial cell function and systemic hemostasis. Hypothalamic amenorrhea may be brought on by severe COVID-19 disease. There is little research on this subject, although most women resume their regular menstrual cycles after 1-2 months of recuperation.The review also examines how SARS-CoV-2 infection may affect assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments. There are few clinical data, although some research points to potential effects on embryo quality. Overall, ART results, however, did not materially change from the time before the epidemic.Obstetric problems are more likely when SARS-CoV-2 infection occurs during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. Even though the maternal death rate is still low, pregnant women, especially those with comorbidities, are more likely to experience serious sickness.The review emphasizes how the COVID-19 vaccine affects menstrual cycles, showing brief, modest modifications without serious health hazards. Also included are the psychological effects of family planning choices during the pandemic.In conclusion, this narrative review offers a thorough assessment of the complicated and changing effects of SARS-CoV-2 on sexual and reproductive health. The different requirements of people and couples during and after the pandemic are highlighted, underscoring the necessity for ongoing study and specialized healthcare practices.
