“…This stimulation of immunity cell proliferation was probably mediated by a lectin (glycoprotein) which is present in vegetal seeds and particularly in B. rapa as indicated by Raval et al, 2004 24 and for Lepidium sativum (Brassicaceae specie). 10 Similar immunostimulation of cells was also reported by Wang et al, 2021 12 by measuring the weight of the spleen and thymus under polysaccharides from B. rapa. Another study 32 with petroleum extract from B. rapa showed an immunostimulatory effect by increasing the proportions of B cells, CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, and activated CD8+ T cells in the spleens of tumor-bearing mice.…”

“…26 On isolated macrophages, ethanolic and ethyl acetate extracts of B. rapa seeds both inhibited macrophage proliferation. In contrast, other authors observed stimulation of macrophages under Brassica roots extract 12,28 or by aqueous extract of total plant from Brassica campestris with the experiments conducted on macrophage cell line RAW 264.7 and not on isolated macrophages 11 We indicated, for the first time, an inhibition of freshly isolated macrophage proliferation under B. rapa seeds extracts leading to an antiinflammatory effect of compounds present in B. rapa extracts. This conclusion is confirmed by previous publications indicating an antiinflammatory effect of B. rapa root compounds on cultured macrophage cell lines.…”

“…B. rapa has been clinically proven to have anti‐tumor and immunity‐enhancing activity (Sun et al, 2010; Xiao & Zhang, 2010; Zhang, Ma & Zhang, 2013), and the polysaccharides of B. rapa (BRP) have been proved to exhibit antioxidative and immunomodulatory effects on RAW 264.7 cells. Our previous study has demonstrated that BRP possesses phagocytic capacity and has potent immunomodulatory activity via the activation of Akt and NF‐κB (Guo et al, 2022). In the present study, BRP has been shown to exhibit some anti‐tumor effect, while it has no direct inhibition on the growth of 4 T1 and LLC tumor cells.…”

“…Besides of STAT1, NF‐κB participates in M1 macrophage polarization. We previously demonstrated that BRP exerted immunomodulatory activities in RAW264.7 cells via activation of NF‐κB signaling pathways (Guo et al, 2022). In this study, we found that the increasing expressions of M1 marker genes and STAT1 phosphorylation upon BRP treatment were reversed via blockade of NF‐κB signaling pathway by the treatment with the NF‐κB inhibitor BAY11‐7082.…”
