“…30 More recent analyses 31,32 compared 3-dose HepB vaccine completion rates in patients with diabetes aged 19-59 years between two large US managed care organizations, Kaiser Permanente Southern California in which an electronic alert and a reminder were implemented in the EMR and Kaiser Permanente Northern California in which no such reminder was used. 31 The site with EMR reminders increased vaccination coverage rapidly from 7.6% in 2012 to 29.4% in 2015, while no increase was seen at the site with no EMR reminder. 31,32 EMR are increasingly being adopted by health systems, 31 and might therefore be a valuable tool for improving vaccination completion.…”

“…The median time to vaccination results underscore the importance of increasing awareness among providers of ACIP recommendations for vaccinating adults at increased risk for hepatitis A or B infection. The effectiveness of electronic medical record (EMR) reminders in increasing the uptake of hepatitis B vaccination among patients with diabetes has been demonstrated previously, (Hechter et al, 2019) and these results warrant further research to determine if median time to initial vaccination after initial diagnosis of an ACIP recommended condition could be decreased through effective interventions.…”

“…Discussion of influenza vaccination in patient groups during hospital staff meetings or the establishment of registers of children with SMRC and use of messaging software, currently used for appointment reminders, could assist in improving uptake. Alternatively, structural remedies at the practice level incorporating the use of electronic medical record systems that continue to prompt at each visit and encourage an ongoing conversation have demonstrated effectiveness . Nationally, increasing the capability of the Australian Immunisation Register to capture risk status could provide another mechanism for recommendations to reach parents and help establish accurate coverage information for this priority target group, which is missing on a large scale globally…”
