Impact of battery electric vehicle usage on air quality in three Chinese first-tier cities

Wenjing Lyu,
Ying Hu,
Jin Liu
et al.

Abstract: China, the world leader in automobile production and sales, confronts the challenge of transportation emissions, which account for roughly 10% of its total carbon emissions. This study, utilizing real-world vehicle data from three major Chinese cities, assesses the impact of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) on air quality. Our analysis reveals that BEVs, when replacing gasoline vehicles in their operational phase, significantly reduce emissions, with reductions ranging from 8.72 to 85.71 kg of CO2 per vehicle … Show more

“…This unprecedented increase, mostly owing to solar systems connected to the energy distribution network, has resulted in technological improvements and decreased PV module costs, as well as substantial initiatives for research and development in the area associated with power 5 . In fact, the PV sources and dependability of converter used to link solar systems to power distribution network modules are specifications that can significantly affect the yearly output of energy and, as a result, the economic sustainability of a the plant 6 , 7 . One of the goals of solar systems linked to the grid is to manage the current and power supplied into the network in accordance with international standards 8 .…”

“…To alter the operating point outside of the thresholds of the established standard, these strategies entail producing perturbations in the inverter operation. Although active solutions inevitably lead to a decline in PQ, their use is warranted by the reduction of NDZ 28 .…”

“…Conversely, active methods entail introducing small perturbations into specific inverter operation parameters. The primary objective is to set up conditions that lead to the inverter losing stability following a UG loss, enabling it to function beyond the constraints established by global standards 28 . This category includes techniques such as harmonic insertion, high-frequency signal injection, and frequency and voltage drift approaches.…”

“…For electric vehicles, the parking position affects the coefficient of system coupling. Therefore, the selected impedance value cannot be directly calculated (Lyu et al, 2024). Therefore, the observation method is used for calculation to ensure the actual value of the original edge by controlling the impedance value of the secondary edge.…”
