Impact of Concentration and Foliar Spraying Times Number with Boron on Pomegranate Fruit Cracking

Abstract: The research was carried out in the 2018 agricultural season with the aim of studying the effect of boron foliar spray on reducing cracking of the French pomegranate variety. The experiment was conducted according to a completely randomized design (CRD). We had three treatments for boron concentrations (0, 100, 200 ppm) and four treatments for the number of spraying times (0, 1, 2, and 3). The results showed the superiority of all spraying treatments with boron over the control treatment in most of the studied… Show more

“…Different letters mean significant differences (p > 0.05) between control and treatments (Ca+B+Zn and B+Zn) according to the two-way ANOVA test followed by the post hoc Tukey's multiple comparison test. and Garner, 2018;Dinesh et al, 2017;Draie and Aboras, 2021) and both of them are associated with cell wall and membrane integrity, and nutrient transport (Barzana et al, 2021). B is an important structural microelement, as it is associated with the apiosyl residue of rhamnogalacturonan-II (RGII) and the cross-linking of two monomers (Ishii and Matsunaga, 1996).…”

“…Cracking is a physiopathy with a growing interest as can be seen in the numerous articles that have published in recent years for different fruits including cherries (Fresno and Munné-Bosch, 2021;Gutiérrez et al, 2021;Michailidis et al, 2020) tomato (Capel et al, 2017;Zhang et al, 2020), jujube (Hou et al, 2022;Li et al, 2020;Ren et al, 2017) or pomegranate (Chater and Garner, 2018;Davarpanah et al, 2018;Draie and Aboras, 2021). But also, one of the plants that can suffer cracking and it has a relevant economic impact is the melon, Cucumis melo L., a member of the Cucurbitaceae family that has a high economic impact in global market, being the fourth most important fruit in the world (De Campos et al, 2017).…”
