Impact of Electrification on African Development-Analysis with Using Grey Systems Theory

Abstract: In this paper, the authors discuss the problem of the influence of the level of electrification in African countries on their sustainable development. The first aim of the article is to determine the relationship between changes in the electrification index and changes in the indicators showing individual components of sustainable development for African countries. The analyzed indicators of sustainable development include GDP per capita, Human Deveopment Index (HDI), and the CO2 emissions per capita indicator… Show more

“…The study also constructed an evaluation index system for the high-quality development of China’s marine fisheries from the six dimensions of “openness, innovation, coordination, greenness, sharing and safety”. Second, from the standpoint of economic expansion, scholars have typically used indicators such as GDP [ 28 ], GDP per capita [ 29 ], total factor productivity [ 30 ], green total factor productivity [ 31 , 32 ], labor productivity [ 33 ] and other indicators as proxy variables for SED and research on the factors that affect SED. The advantages of this type of research are that the calculation of indicators is relatively simple.…”

“…The measurement of the efficiency of transforming growth-related inputs into sustainability-related outputs for the countries constituting the research group in the article was conducted using the author's "Synthetic Efficiency Indicator for Economic Growth" ("SEI-EG") -based on grey systems theory (especially whitening functions) [Nowak et al, 2020[Nowak et al, , 2021. The determination of the described indicator can be presented as a research procedure consisting of seven steps [Kokocińska et al, 2020].…”

“…In the mid-19th century, Hong et al put forward the idea of social indirect capital on the basis of summarizing earlier economists' arguments, pointing out that social indirect capital includes all those foundations such as electricity, transportation, or communication industry [6]. Nowak et al based on uncertainty and rational expectations, put forward the theory of excessive sensitivity, and the theoretical framework of consumption under uncertainty has been initially established [7]. Liu et al introduced uncertainty into consumption theory for the first time and proposed a random walk model to analyze the influence of uncertainty factors on consumption [8].…”
