Impact of Epstein-Barr virus coinfection in Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia

Abstract: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is one of the most common pathogens of respiratory infection in children, while Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is usually subclinical in immunocompetent children. Although single MP infection is common enough, MP and EBV coinfection have received little attention. Especially, the pathogenic role of EBV in lung when coinfection with MP, has not been clarified.
