Impact of Flaxseed Inclusion in Damascus Goat's Ration on Digestibility, Some Blood Parameters and Reproductive Performance

Abstract: Feeding flaxseed to dairy animals improve milk production and reproductive performance. So, the objective of our study was to investigate effect of inclusion flaxseed in Damascus goat's ration on its reproductive performance. Twenty-four Damascus goats (31.40 ±0.50 kg weight and 2-3 years old) were divided into three groups (randomly, eight animals each). The basic diet of control group (T1) consisted of 56.67% concentrate feed mixture (CFM) and 33.33% Alfalfa hay, while the groups T2 and T3 supplemented with … Show more

“…Treatment with different flushing management containing lemuru fish oil with high PUFA (omega-3) resulted higher litter size. This study supported by Meteab et al 40 , who stated that omega-3 supplementation will result high litter size performance in doe due to survival embryo in the uterus during gestation. In general, this study with two and three times flushing resulted same ratio of female and male lambs.…”

“…Essential oils did not influence the serum urea level that was supported by other 77 in goats. The creatinine levels in this investigation are within the normal reported range (0.6-1.1 mg/dl) 1,104 . The current finding regarding the levels of total protein, albumin and globulin was similar to the findings of others in goats 1,53,97 .…”

“…Dosing with flaxseed oil led to an increase in blood glucose, as the third treatment was significantly superior (p≤0.05), reaching 66.66 mg/dl over the first and second treatments, 53.33 and 54.66 mg/dl, respectively. In these treatments, the change in the level of glucose may be due to the high level of long-chain fatty acids in food, which led to an increase in the formation of glucose, leading to an increase in the production of propionic acid in the rumen [15]. The level of ALT enzyme decreased significantly (p≤0.05) in the third treatment 17.33 IU/L compared to the control treatment 24.00 IU/L and the decrease in the second treatment was 22.66 IU/L nonsignificant compared to the control treatment.…”

“…In the same direction, the results of the AST enzyme amounted to 81.33, 71 and 67.33 IU/L, respectively. This decline may be attributable to the high amount of omega-3 found in flaxseed oil, which plays a significant role in protecting the liver from injury and keeping the blood's normal ratio of liver enzymes from shifting [15]. Changes in lettering within the same row imply statistical significance (p≤0.05).…”
