Impact of hookworm infection and preventive chemotherapy on haemoglobin in non‐pregnant populations

Abstract: Soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) are the most common neglected tropical disease (NTD), with an estimated 900 million individuals infected worldwide [1]. The main STHs, roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), hookworms (Necator americanus, Ancylostoma duodenale and Ancylostoma ceylancium) and whipworms (Trichuris trichiura) cause significant morbidity [2,3].
