Abstract:This chapter describes the cracking of stainless steel piping under Inter-granular Stress Corrosion Cracking (IGSCC) conditions using probabilistic fracture mechanics that predict the impact of in-service inspection (ISI) programs on the reliability of specific nuclear piping systems that have failed in service. The IGSCC is characterized by a single damage parameter, which depends on residual stresses, environmental conditions, and the degree of sensitization. The Probability of Detection (POD) curves and the… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
