This paper delves into the multifaceted phenomenon of globalization and examines its contemporary manifestations. Globalization, characterized by increasing interconnectedness and interdependence among nations, has gained momentum through technological advancements, trade, and communication. In the context of historical dialectics, capitalism, and political economy, this study explores the evolving landscape of globalization and its implications for the modern world. The investigation aims to bridge the gap between past research and emerging trends, analyzing the complex relationship between economic interdependence and global dynamics. Through a systematic review of literature, including original research and review studies, the study uncovers a diverse array of topics, from geopolitical dynamics and ecological innovations to labor market disruptions and international trade evolution. While traditional themes such as inequality, technological advancements, and historical origins remain vital, contemporary discourse encompasses ecological sustainability, labor market transformations, and strategic geopolitical interactions. Notably, recent research highlights the role of economic diplomacy and strategies of dominant players, such as the EU, the US, and China, in shaping global markets. Furthermore, it emphasizes the intersection of technology, innovation, and globalization, particularly within industries and labor markets. Through an examination of the past, present, and future, this work aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of globalization's diverse dimensions, aiding policymakers, economists, and businesses in making informed choices.

As áreas protegidas por fornecerem uma ampla gama de serviços ecossistêmicos para a população humana são um componente essencial de qualquer estratégia de conservação global. Nesse contexto, o ecoturismo nas Unidades de Conservação (UC) representam uma estratégia viável para a conservação da biodiversidade e a prestação de serviços ambientais. Em face das crises globais enfrentadas pela humanidade, medir e avaliar os impactos econômicos dessas ferramentas tornou-se um aspecto importante na avaliação de políticas e processos de tomada de decisão para a conservação da natureza, principalmente, em contextos de áreas urbanas. Entretanto, a documentação desses benefícios enfrenta limitações quanto a precisão nas estimativas, estando sujeitas a erros e vieses, principalmente do tratamento das externalidades do segmento e sazonalidade. Diante disso, o presente trabalho se vale da metodologia Money Generation Model (MGM2) – o modelo gera estimativas de impactos econômicos de visitantes em áreas protegidas –, para analisar o impacto econômico gerado pelo ecoturismo no Parque Estadual Botânico do Ceará, situado no Estado do Ceará, Brasil. Os resultados esperados visam compreender os efeitos multiplicadores da atividade expressos em geração de empregos, vendas, remuneração, salários; exprimir conceitos da metodologia MGM2, com modificações, para abordar questões específicas da área protegida; e, informar formuladores de políticas públicas.

Urban parks are central to advancing urban sustainability and improving overall quality of life by providing green spaces that promote physical and mental well-being, mitigate environmental issues, and foster community cohesion. However, there is a lack of methodologies that measure these benefits and provide a sustainability rating. In this study, we propose a valuable tool for measuring the sustainability level of urban parks: low (0–50%), medium (51–79%), and high (80–100%). It employs effective and affordable measures for the daily management of urban parks. It is rooted in the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic. We have defined 19 indicators (e.g., renewable energy and energy efficiency, environmental impact on society) and 50 criteria (e.g., clean energy generation, water workshops). A multi-criteria analysis facilitated the selection process for these indicators and criteria. This methodology is developed by characterizing and systematically documenting the park’s day-to-day operations. We present a case study of Cárcamos Park in Guanajuato, Mexico. Through this real-life scenario, we demonstrate our methodology’s high applicability and effectiveness. The sustainability assessment of Cárcamos Park reveals a level of 57%, with the environmental pillar at 47.7%, the economic pillar at 49%, and the social pillar at 75%. The adaptability of our methodology during the design phase of new parks plays a crucial role in shaping sustainable park layouts. Park managers can apply our procedure to any park, evaluate their sustainability status, and detect areas of opportunity.
