Impact of mining on herbaceous ground cover and wild fauna in Birsha- Damoh forest range a buffer zone of Malanjkhand Copper mines of India

Abstract: Mining is known to demolish adjacent natural ecosystem all over world with generating massive volumes of wastes dumped resulting in damage to the natural ecosystem, reducing herbaceous ground cover and wildlife. Hinustan Copper Mines (HCM) is the Asia's largest open cast copper mines and produces 70 % copper for the Indian market. The study was carried out at buffer zone of HCM in 31 forest sites of Birsha-Damoh forest range area of Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh in India. The herbaceous ground cover (HGC… Show more

“…Effect of adsorbent dosage on copper ions removal efficiency on to Eyuclapltus bark3.3.3 Effect of contact timeThe adsorption efficiency of copper at three different contacting time (30 min, 90 min and 150 min) where at pH 5, 3g, pH 5, 1.8 g and pH 5, 3g were 83.5%, 92% and 82.5%, respectively.Hence, the present result shows that the low cost adsorbent, locally available and environmental friendly of treated Eyuclapltus bark (EB), and increase in the concentration of Cu in samples of sediments compared to sediment samples could be connected with their precipitation in accordance with the results presented by Bhattacharya (2017)[24]. The active surface sites had been exhausted/finished as a result of a lapse time was completed.…”

“…As a result, mining of minerals and ores turns into a contentious issue over the past few decades. The local environment and ecology get deteriorated due to rampant and unscientific mining which directly influence the nearby natural resources like land, water, soil, air, flora and fauna (Nanda and Tiwary, 2001;Ahmad ., 2014;Singh ., 2017;Chaulya ., 2019). Usually, mining is site-specific activity and, in particular, the opencast mining is a composite system of operation where exploration, excavation and mineral processing are carried out simultaneously (CPCB, 2007;Behera, 2017).…”
