Impact of product-design strategies on the operations of a closed-loop supply chain

Abstract: This study investigates product design and its impact on the operations of a two-echelon closed-loop supply chain (CLSC). Research findings reveal that remanufacturing does not necessarily enhance the profitability of the supplier or the manufacturer, but adjusting product-design strategies helps to curb loss if profitability suffers. An environmental impact analysis identifies an interval for the base unit remanufacturing cost, within which remanufacturing is beneficial. We then obtain the condition under whi… Show more

“…Therefore, the improvement of consumers' low-carbon awareness has a direct impact on the cost and operational decision-making of enterprise, thus posing a new challenge relating to supply chain operation management [4]. This means that the competitiveness of enterprise increasingly depend on whether they can meet the requirements of sustainable development [5]. For example, updating environmental protection equipment and investing in manufacturers for technical research and improvement.…”

“…In Figure 2, both F t 1 (x 1 (k)) and F s 2 (x 2 (k)) satisfy the conditions of standard fuzzy partition. We set Figure 2, we know there are 4 fuzzy rules included in one MORG called S. Referring to the product-design strategies in [25], we apply 4 fuzzy rules to describe the manufacturer's production patterns and the retailer's ordering patterns for the different inventory levels as follows: erefore, under the different rules, the uncertain CLSC model with hybrid recycling channels and lead times can be expressed as follows:…”
