Impact of QED corrections to Higgs decay into four leptons at the LHC

Abstract: At the LHC a precise measurement of the Higgs boson mass (if discovered), at the level of 0.1-1%, will be possible through the channel gg → H → 4l for a wide range of Higgs mass values. To match such an accuracy, the systematic effects induced by QED corrections need to be investigated. In the present study the calculation of O(α) and higher order QED corrections is illustrated as well as their impact on the Higgs mass determination, once realistic event selection criteria for charged leptons and photons are c… Show more

“…We find that the total widths are about one order of magnitude larger than that of H → ℓ lγ [23][24][25][26][27][28][29] and H → ν ℓ νℓ γ [37,38] processes, respectively. The NLO corrections, which are about 9% for H → ℓ lZ and 5% for H → ν ℓ νℓ Z, are more significant than that of H →4 leptons [30][31][32] and H → ν e eW [39] processes. With a total Higgs width of 4.1 MeV [40], we then have the branching fractions:…”
