Impact of Reflexive Ontologies in Semantic Clinical Decision Support Systems

Abstract: Ontology processing is arguably a time-consuming process with high associated computational costs. Query actions constitute a crucial part of the reasoning process and are a primary source of time consumption. Reflexive ontologies (ROs) is a novel approach intended to reduce time consumption problems while providing a fast reaction from ontology-based applications. In this article we present the implementation of a knowledgebased clinical decision support system (CDSS) for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, … Show more

“…It should also be mentioned that the considered problem refers to a few other topics such as introducing innovations in healthcare systems, connected strictly not only to medical practice, but also to decision support systems on various levels of medical units management, Artexe et al [37] and Toro et al [38]. Additionally, the studies presented in this paper are situated in the stream of research in which the game theory is used for analysis of the effectiveness of common exploitation of limited resources, Ostrom [39], Ostrom & Gardner [40], and Anderies et al [41].…”

“…Further work will involve testing new approaches to cope with imbalanced datasets, as well as other feature definitions. Also, other knowledge modeling approaches based on experience may be tested on this data such as (Artetxe et al 2013), (Toro, Sanchez et al 2012), (Toro, Vaquero et al 2012), (Zhang et al 2013).…”
