Abstract:The performance degradation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ultra-wide band (UWB) radio signals transmission over standard single-mode fiber is analyzed through numerical simulation. A significant performance variation along the standardized UWB band due to the fiber dispersion-induced power fading is shown. As a consequence, a periodic dependence of the optical signal-to-noise ratio degradation on the fiber length and on the RF carrier frequency is observed.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
