Impact of the Environmental Factors and its Effects on Productivity and Health

Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the dominance impacts of environmental factors such as illuminance (lx), operative temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), air flow velocity (m.s -1 ) on the operators' productivity at mechanical engineering industry. The subject were workers of the workstation space at the assembly section of the factory. Two sets of representative data level and production rate were collected by objective and subjective methods. All monitored factors were measured using calibrate… Show more

“…Using mathematical statistics methods, an original mathematical model [28,29] was developed, which allows to express the effect of the negative effect of microclimate factors and to evaluate the workload of employees by microclimatic conditions during working hours (8 hours). The total load (Z) can be expressed as the result of the action of the individual load factors using the formula:…”

“…Lower levels of job control and reduced social support at work are associated with a higher risk of dementia. Lower workload and physical load, high task resources, and good leadership are related to better working ability [10]. Stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and it can have a negative impact on work performance (Fig.…”

“…Productivity is also affected by environmental conditions such as illuminance, temperature, relative humidity, air quality and noise [ 16 ]. In particular, an uncomfortable working environment can have a negative impact on workers’ performance and health [ 17 ] and therefore reduce job satisfaction [ 18 ].…”
