Impact of the Intake Vortex on the Stability of the Turbine Jet Engine Intake System

Abstract: The article presents a numerical analysis of the intake system of a turbine jet engine in terms of parameter stability along its duct, following the occurrence of an intake vortex. This type of intake system is characterized by high susceptibility to intake vortex. In extreme cases, this type of phenomenon leads to the engine surge and even to the operation disruption (engine stalling). The article presents a developed model of the front part of the aircraft with an intake duct. The discretization process invo… Show more

“…Therefore, the calculated results should be compared with measurements conducted experimentally (for instance in a wind tunnel) to validate the CFD models. Depending on the specific case, this comparison may be related to the qualitative aspects of airflow (for example, the investigation of streamlines or particle tracks around the physical and virtual model as presented by Kozakiewicz A. et al [21]), flow quantities like the aerodynamic coefficients or pressure field [22], or both aspects mentioned above. Comprehensive experimental and numerical studies on the aerodynamic characteristics of UAVs have been described by Frant M. [23].…”
