Impacts of Energy Security on Economic Development: Evidence From China

Abstract: Using a panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2006 to 2018, this study evaluates the impact of energy security on economic development by employing the entropy method and panel quantile regression model. The study reveals (a) an upward trend in energy security levels, (b) regional differences in energy security levels, and (c) energy security’s significant promotion effect on China’s economic development, which gradually decreases with the improvement of economic development levels.
