“…Many studies conducted preference surveys and demonstrated significant travel behavior changes with different perspectives and impacts on sociodemographic groups (Ferreira et al 2022;Javadinasr et al 2022;Szczepanek and Kruszyna 2022;Downey et al 2022;Zhou et al 2022;Currie et al 2021;Echaniz et al 2021;Abdullah et al 2020;Morita et al 2020;Tan and Ma 2021;Shakibaei et al 2020;Ghader et al 2020;Przybylowski et al 2021;Pan et al 2020). All survey results indicated that the pandemic impacted mode choice behavior, with people avoiding crowded places to maintain social distance, which resulted in significantly reduced public transport and shared mobility demand owing to health concerns, and increased dependence on private vehicles (Oestreich et al 2023;Nian et al 2020). In Santiago (Astroza et al 2020), overall trips were reduced by 44% (with the highest reduction in metro (55%), ride-hailing (51%), and bus (45%)).…”

“…The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruption to urban mobility across the world (Oestreich et al, 2023), with the city of Constanta, Romania, being no different. This paper examines the challenges and opportunities for urban mobility in Constanta brought about by the current pandemic and how the city is responding to these.…”

“…Although several studies addressed consumers’ travel motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic (Aebli et al , 2022; Kusumaningrum and Wachyuni, 2020; Lin and Zhang, 2021; Ozbilen et al , 2021), there is a lack of empirical research comparing the characteristics of travelers based on their travel purposes – business, pleasure and visiting friends and relatives (VFR), as well as their sociodemographics, personality traits and expected and perceived well-being benefits from traveling. Furthermore, while the majority of the empirical research addressed post-COVID-19 travel behavior (Ahmad et al , 2022; Miao et al , 2021; Oestreich et al , 2023; Şengel et al , 2023), very few studies tackled consumers’ travel behavior and psychological impact during the early stages of the pandemic (Lenggogeni et al , 2022; Neuburger and Egger, 2021; Zenker and Kock, 2020). As summarized in Figure 1, the current study fills this void by comparing travelers based on their travel purposes (business, pleasure and VFR) and exploring the influence of subjective well-being received from traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic on satisfaction from the trip and future intention to take similar pleasure, business and VFR trips.…”
