Abstract:Arabidopsis lines with loss-of-function mutations in the gene encoding Embryo sac Pectin MethylEsterase Inhibitor (Atepmei) were found to have short silique and high seed sterility. Examination of tissue-cleared mature ovules (FG7-stage) revealed irregularly positioned nuclei within the embryo sacs.
