“…Previous studies conducted at our laboratory also showed alterations in endochondral ossification in rats treated with arsenic [Aybar Odstrcil et al, 2010] and lithium carbonate [Lewicki et al, 2006]. Previously, we used the same experimental model of constant light to assess tooth eruption; the results showed that prenatal exposure to constant light caused a delay in tooth eruption associated with a decrease in the number of osteoclasts and in TRAP expression by osteoclasts and preosteoclasts [Fontanetti et al, 2013]. Interestingly, although exposure to the same stressor impaired tibial endochondral ossification in this study, we did not observe any alteration in the number of osteoclasts or in the expression of TRAP in the tibiae.…”
